Bio

He is the author of a client newsletter, Money Monitor (published monthly) and is the author of two books, Financial Planning for the Baby Boomer Client and Money Forever. Mr. Haas was listed as one of the 300 Best Financial Advisors in America, in Worth magazine.

Mr. Haas served on the National Board of Directors of the Society of Financial Service Professionals from 1991 to 1993, and served as the 1985-86 president of the Detroit Chapter. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the American Institute of Financial Gerontology. He is a 30-year Member of the Million Dollar Round Table and has been a National Quality Award for 33 years. He has been an adjunct instructor in Financial Planning at Lawrence Technological University and served on the practice standards board of the CFP® Board of Practice Standards.

Don was a speaker at the 1986, 1990, and 2003 Million Dollar Round Table meetings and he has spoken before many NAIFA Chapters, Society Chapters, Estate Planning Councils and the Financial Planning Association. He was a speaker at the 1989 and 1998 Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP) Keeping Current clinics. He was a moderator for the May 1990 and September 1999, and a speaker for the September 2000, Video Teleconferences. Mr. Haas has also spoken for the 1991, 1992, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2005, and 2007 National Conference of the Society FSP. He addressed the College for Financial Planning National Conference in 1999 and was the Keynote speaker for the 1998 and 2002 IARFC Cruise/Conference. Don is the 2001 recipient of the Loren Dunton Award. Dunton is known as the father of financial planning. He was inducted into the 'Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame 2002.'

He is a columnist for NAIFA’s Advisor Today magazine. In 2000, he also produced and presented a series of regional one-day workshops for the Society FSP on making the transition to financial planning.

After graduation from the University of Michigan, he joined the trumpet section of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, a position he held for twenty years. During most of those years, he developed his financial planning career and, since retiring from the DSO in 1973, he has devoted his full time to that area. He is a resident of Birmingham, Michigan.
